The two-storey houses of Mlomp, the Kanoufa platform and Pointe Saint-Georges offer the finest views over the green Casamance.
Mlomp is remarkable for its two-storey mud-brick houses, unique in Senegal, topped with thatch and built with techniques passed down through generations. The village is also known for its giant kapok trees and its rice granaries.
A little further on, the Kanoufa platform rises above the canopy. From there the view reaches over rice fields, palm groves and waterways, the landscape that earned the region its name of green Casamance.
Pointe Saint-Georges juts into the river facing the bolongs. It is one of the few places in Senegal where manatees can still be seen, and a quiet stop before boarding for Elinkine and Carabane island.
