Kilometres of fine sand lined with coconut palms, fishing villages and the open Atlantic: Cap Skirring has the finest coastline in Senegal.
At the far south-west of the country, Cap Skirring offers long beaches open to the Atlantic, fringed with coconut palms and rarely crowded. Swimming, fishing and simply resting fill the days.
The village has kept its craft market, known for wood carving, fabrics and musical instruments. The surroundings are easy to explore: Kabrousse, home village of Aline Sitoé Diatta, a figure of resistance to colonial rule, the Kadioute museum in Boucotte, and Diembéring on its hillside.
It is traditionally the final stage of a Casamance tour: its airport allows a flight back to Dakar instead of the long road.
